Athens, from the Acropolis

Before we planned our trip, I thought the Acropolis in Athens was a building alongside the Parthenon (which I used to confuse with the Pantheon which is in Rome), but in reading about Greece, I learned that the acropolis refers to the highest hill, the point where an ancient city had its citadel and what has now become a spectacular viewing point to see the expanse of the city of Athens. There are continual efforts to preserve this important historical and architectural landmark for generations to come.
